Last week Spirits Europe met EU officials to discuss concerns over the current discussions in Nigeria regarding their tax reform proposal. While Nigeria is looking at introducing an excise tax on imported spirits at the same level of domestic spirits, the risk of the continuation of the Import Adjustment Tax (at 50%) would maintain a disproportionate burden on imported spirits.
