- undefined
Morocco is considering a significant update to its decades-old winemaking regulations and has opened a public comment period through June 21st, 2025, on a draft decree that would amend Decree No. 2-75-321 from 1977. The proposed changes touch on everything from alcohol content to packaging and labeling signaling a modernization effort for the country’s wine industry.
Key revisions include lowering the permitted alcohol content in table and ordinary wine from 12to 11,5 degrees, and reducing allowable volatile acidity from 0.98 g/l to 0.90 g/l. The decree also introduces a new premium classification – Vin de Qualité Supérieur (VQS) – for Moroccan wines.
