Support for shifting to lighter wine bottles

Although some consumers may believe that “a heavy bottle signals a better wine,” some in the wine sector are shifting to lighter bottles, some as low as 380 grams.
Using lighter bottles could reduce wine’s carbon footprint by as much as 29 percent, lower shipping costs, and demonstrate environmental stewardship.
The author suggests that support for lighter bottles may increase among consumers after they learn the environmental justification for them.
