Wine Australia project finds data-driven irrigated vines outperform conventional practices

A research project conducted at the University of Adelaide and supported by Wine Australia reportedly found that use of data-driven irrigation schedules increased water use efficiency three-to-six-fold in Cabernet crops – and double in Shiraz – compared to convention methods.

The researchers concluded that irrigation strategies based on data-driven techniques enabled water savings without compromising vine physiological performance, yield, or grape composition.
