United States: TTB proposed rulemaking on trade practices in alcohol sector

The U.S. Department of Treasury’s Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) is issuing an Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking this week, focusing on whether the alcohol beverage sector offers a “level playing field” for all businesses, including producers, importers, and distributors, and whether new companies are impeded from competing in the American markets for beer, wine, and spirits.

TTB will also examine whether current regulations are adequate from the perspective of competition. The TTB will be seeking public comments over a period of four months.
