An open letter from the Wine and Spirit Trade Association, signed by 160 executives from the wine, spirits, and hospitality sectors, urged the UK Chancellor to cancel a “double-digit” rise in taxes on alcohol beverages.
The open letter, which was published in The Timesin advance of the Chancellor’s autumn budget statement, said the Chancellor’s decision to reverse the alcohol duty freeze would both fuel inflation and put thousands of jobs at risk.
