Ireland: Ministry says minimum pricing is contributing to rising inflation. In a briefing document for coalition leaders and senior ministers, Ireland’s Departments of Finance and Public Expenditure reportedly noted that minimum unit pricing (MUP) on alcohol beverages introduced at the start of 2022 is contributing to rising inflation. It is posited that the overall cost of alcohol beverages has risen about 8pc as a result of the introduction of MUP, setting a floor price of 10c per gram of alcohol.
