- undefined
French Government may release emergency funds for wine growers after coldest April day in 75 years damages crops. As temperatures fell below the freezing point to a record minus 9.3C, wine growers in Mourmelon, east of Paris, burned candles, sprayed water, and used wind turbines to try to save their crops during the coldest day in April in 75 years. Forecasters predicted freezing temperatures would continue in southwest and central France. France’s Prime Minister reportedly said that emergency funds might be released to help producers. Wine production fell to an historically low level in 2021 after similar weather events.
