France: Drought threatens 2022 vintage

Although most winegrowers in Rhône have not been hit by the devastating frost that struck last year, the growing season has begun with disturbingly low water levels in the soil, and development of vineyards in the region is about one week ahead of last year's due to warm weather.
With extended dry weather through winter and spring, the situation is potentially critical for other wine regions across the Mediterranean, Alsace, Burgundy, Champagne, Cognac, and the Rhône.
