Wildfires are raging in France and Spain as Europe experiences an extreme heat wave.

Two enormous fires south of Bordeaux have forced the evacuation of 14,000 people. The fire near the town of Landiras, south of a valley of Bordeaux vineyards, forced authorities to evacuate 4,100 people.

Spain has deployed nearly all its fire-fighting aircraft to fight 30 forest fires throughout the country. Wildfires are also burning in Crete, Croatia, Hungary, Morocco, and Portugal.

According to the Carlos III Institute, 237 deaths were attributed to high temperatures in Spain from 10-14 July 2022, where temperatures were above 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit) in many areas. Temperatures reached 47 C (117 F) in Portugal's northern town of Pinhao.
